The other day I overheard some co-eds snickering at McCain's choice for VP as being nothing but an ignorant soccer mom. Governor Palin. The sexism here makes me fume. While she might be an elected public official, that is trumped and tarnished by her status as a loving mother. How on earth has motherhood become something so looked down on? People are so quick to stab her back, they simply never take a second to stop and allow themselves to feel anything but hatred for her. Watch the video below, and think for yourself; it shows the kind of love is nearing extinction in our society, where 90 % of pregnancies of down syndrome babies are aborted.
All partisan side-taking aside, our society needs someone like Palin, who practices true acceptance for people by seeing beauty in the human person, at all stages and (arbitrarily assigned) "qualities" of life. Her courage, in spite of all the brutal, seething things people say about her (such as tramped-out Madonna, always classy and self-assured) ought to be such an inspiration to girls to truly speak up for ourselves, and those who can't yet speak for themselves.
